What is the slope in a two-dimensional coordinate system?
In a two-dimensional coordinate system, the slope is a measure of how steep a line is. It is defined as the ratio of the vertical change (the rise) to the horizontal change (the run) between any two points on the line.
More specifically, given two points on a line with coordinates (x1, y1) and (x2, y2), the slope of the line can be calculated using the following formula:
slope = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
Alternatively, the slope can also be expressed in terms of the angle that the line makes with the horizontal axis, which is given by the tangent of that angle.
